Rage Becomes Her (ENG)

“Your anger is a gift you give to yourself and the world that is yours. In anger, I have lived more fully, freely, intensely, sensitively, and politically. If ever there was a time not to silence yourself, to channel your anger into healthy places and choices, this is it.”
– Soraya Chemaly, Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women’s Anger

Female rage does not exist in isolation, it is fueled by inequality, oppression, and the invisibility of marginalized voices. We explore how anger is not only personal but also political, from an intersectional feminist perspective of course.

What does it mean to give anger a voice? What does anger sound like on the page, and how can we transform it into a creative force? In this writing workshop by Rachel Rumai, we’ll explore female rage as a source of imagination and resistance. We draw inspiration from writers of weird girl literature: a subgenre that focuses on female characters who deviate from social norms, break stereotypes, and often have an “other,” unsettling, or unusual perspective on the world.

Rachel Rumai Diaz is a spoken-word artist who seeks to connect art and activism in her work. Both on stage and behind the scenes, she is committed to raising awareness and creating more space for unheard voices. She is also the founder of the feminist literary festival Zus en Zo, a platform focused on intersectionality and modern sisterhood.
